TEC Canada's innovative membership app lowers operating expenses and improves members' experience

TEC Canada runs an international executive leadership program that fosters growth in the country’s leading organizations by enhancing the effectiveness of chief executives and business leaders.

The App In Action
TEC Canada fosters growth in some of Canada’s leading organizations. Realizing technology could increase the service and benefit TEC provided to its clients, we worked closely with them to design and build an app that is a game-changer for their business.
The Problem
TEC Canada's membership groups shared the same goals and purpose but were unable to effectively communicate their research and key findings through TEC's manual data-entry process across multiple systems.
TEC needed a better way of managing workflow and improve the quality of data necessary for their leadership programs. They determined that digitizing their data processing approach to optimize operational expenses was the way forward.
The Solution
Poeta Digital developed a mobile membership application to digitize TEC Canada’s data processing workflow and integrate with the company’s existing ERP. Following the principles of the AWS well-architected framework, the application is designed to be delivered on highly responsive, stable, and cost-optimized infrastructure. Poeta leveraged AWS CloudFormation to provision and manage resources such as EC2 and RDS servers, S3, IAM, and KMS within a secure virtual private cloud adhering to best practices for security and scalability.
The AWS solution provided to TEC as part of a DDoS mitigation strategy automatically deploys a set of AWS WAF (web application firewall) rules that filter common web-based attacks. The rules implemented have been tested at scale using live traffic modeling techniques, and are dynamically updated to include newly identified threats. Active monitoring and alerting rules are built in to provide awareness to our support team if/when issues are detected.
The Result
TEC Canada’s new membership application has been deployed to 1,600 members and chairs. The application has given TEC better visibility into key business analytics across all platforms. This has allowed the company to refine and improve its programming, resulting in higher value for membership, deeper member engagement, and stronger retention.
TEC Canada has also been to save over 2 FTE per year and reduce its operating expenses as a result of implementing the application, which runs on iOS and Android mobile apps and modern web browsers for both Windows and Mac.
